Today on my hard drive

I should probably start with what I think of the shows I’m watching this season.

In no particular order:

Utawarerumono - I still can’t pronounce the name right on the first try. An excellent fantasy series, especially given that it’s based on an h-game. Not a very complex plot so far, but it’s just starting to thicken.

Black Lagoon - Good mindless fun. Entertaining and requires almost zero thought.

Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni - Keeps me guessing. In contrast to BL, it’s all about the unanswered questions.

Jyu Oh Sei - Tragically about to end, but solid science fiction. Almost as good as Crest of the Stars. Hopefully there will be a sequel.

Ouran Host Club - Uniquely Japanese humor, and I like how it pokes fun at bishonen stereotypes. On the face of it, it’s just another show about handsome young men who may or may not be gay, but really it’s an enormous joke about shows like that.

School Rumble 2 - It’s more sukuran. How can I resist what may be the best straight(no giant robots or goddesses) high school comedy series?

NANA - It’s shoujo, but with a very broad appeal. Very slice-of-life, with perfectly ordinary things happening to the characters. It’s nice to watch a show that has no supernatural aspect whatsoever.

The Third - It’s Shakugan no Shana with a post-apocalyptic setting. Great visuals, interesting characters and a story that has my attention. Furthermore, Honoka is moe-tastic.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu - I can’t really describe what exactly I like about it. Kyon’s sarcasm is great, Mikuru gives great fanservice, Yuki seems really alien, Itsuki’s cheerfulness makes him the perfect counterpart to Kyon. And then there’s Haruhi Herself. Her personality is so strong, She warps reality around Her. That’s some serious megalomania, although in Her case the world really does revolve around Her. It’s unfortunate that it won’t go on for longer, but I’m satisfied with just 14 episodes. I wouldn’t complain about a sequel, of course.

I’m still watching Eureka seveN, but it’s not exactly new. I also plan to start watching Naruto and Bleach again when they stop the filler and get back to actual story. Having read the manga of both, I know what I’m waiting for.

Lots to watch, and all of it worthwhile. I hope this trend keeps up.
